| SPX Completes Acquisition of Hankison International |

CHARLOTTE, NC - February 4, 2003 - SPX Corporation (NYSE:SPW) today announced that it has completed the acquisition of certain assets and subsidiaries of Hankison International from Hansen Inc.
On January 16, SPX announced that it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire Hankison. Based in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, Hankison is a leading manufacturer of compressed air dehydration and filtration products. SPX will integrate its Flair business unit with the Hankison product lines to form a strategic platform in compressed air dehydration and filtration products and services. The new business unit will be named SPX Air Treatment.
